Buriton: Beyond living memory

£3.00

From the Stone Age to the Steam Age

The parish of Buriton is like a huge history book and this publication brings together knowledge about Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age people who lived in the area as well as about Roman, Saxon and Medieval life.

The publication concludes around the middle of the nineteenth century when the construction of the railway line, which brought the steam age to Buriton, opened up new employment opportunities and new social activities.

The period since then, the last 150 years, is the subject of another Heritage Bank publication: ‘Buriton in Living Memory’.
