A recent delve into the HRO archives in Winchester has unearthed a delightful, leather-bound book estate book for “Mapledurham Estates; Heneage Legge Esq and Lord Sherborne” covering “Mapledurham, Weston and Durford Estates in Buriton and other parishes (dated 1822) which includes a number of lovely, detailed coloured maps (showing field boundaries, cottages etc) and some accompanying schedules with names of tenants, quantities, values etc. The book provides a fascinating insight into life almost 200 years ago
