Fascinating WW1 photograph

By 10th July 2018Ditcham, World War 1

As part of the Heritage Bank’s research into the First World War, a fascinating photograph was found recently in the Hampshire Records Office in Winchester. It claims to show Buriton’s Royal Flying Corps pilot, Francis Cave, stood alongside a biplane about a hundred years ago.

The team of researchers who are producing the quarterly bulletins about WW1 in the Parish Magazine already have access to Lt Cave’s diaries and this photograph helps to bring some of his stories to life.

Do you know of any more sources of historical information about Buriton or its people? Would you like to help with any of the research? Simply contact heritage@buriton.org.uk if you think that you may be able to help.
