Discovering Buriton’s Hidden History

There are thousands of years of history right under our feet – from the Bronze Age, Celtic and Roman times through to the Civil War and beyond. And at this year’s annual ‘Bygone Buriton’ exhibition there’ll be a chance to discover some of the fascinating clues that reveal what life was like here long ago.

The exhibition will showcase an intriguing collection of finds uncovered by local historians who, always with landowners’ permission, have explored fields around our village.

Roman coins, lead styluses, brooches, buckles, thimbles and buttons may be small, but each has a story to tell – offering remarkable glimpses into the lives of people who lived, worked and travelled through this landscape centuries ago.

The exhibition takes place at the village hall on Saturday 26 September, from 1pm to 4pm. Entry is free.
